In January 2017, I received a Scottish Book Trust New Writer Award for my short stories. It’s a prestigious prize and I follow in the footsteps of writers like Man Booker-shortlisted Graeme Macrae Burnet. I spent nine months working on the manuscript for my first collection with my mentor Linda Cracknell (Call of the Undertow, Doubling Back). In January 2018, I read to a packed audience at the New Writers Showcase in the Jam House, Edinburgh.
